Interview with Mikko / Reflexion
finnbands: The new album is finally out now. What are your expectations? What do you wish for?
Mikko: Actually we don't have much expectation with this but the Finnish album chart entry came bit surprise for all of us. Of course we wish we could do more gigs in the future cause our current gig situation sucks. In Finland and in other countries too.
finnbands: Compared to your first album: What has changed in your music (if something has changed from your point of view)? Do you think that there's a certain developement or do you keep your style?
Mikko: In the new album there is songs from four composers whereas the first album was mostly written by Juha so that gives more variety to songs. I think our style is developing all the time and we're always looking for a new ways to develop ourselves as a musicians and composers too. It's quite natural development for us.
finnbands: When I read two songtitles on "Dead to the Past, Blind for tomorrow" I suddenly thought about Negative, nevertheless while listening to the songs nobody would ever doubt or mix you up musically. Do you have any explanation for this? (I am talking of "Non stop glorious ride" and "A thousand nails in my heart")
Mikko: I have no idea how first one is connected to Negative. "The Thousand nails..." had earlier different title and we renamed it soon after the recordings. I heard afterwards that Negative has also own nails in their hearts. So basically it's just coincidence.
finnbands: You said, your album title reflects your current situation. What exactely do you mean with this? Do you wish your past to be dead? And why are you blind for tomorrow?
Mikko: Lots of things have changed during the couple of years and at the moment we're working harder than ever to make this thing work out. So it was kind of new beginning for us and we didn't knew what the future would bring to us. Since the new album was finished, not much has changed but there are still many things going on which might change the situation.
finnbands: If you should rate your new album compared to other releases in 2008 on a scale from 1 (bad) to 10 (best), where would you put it and why?
Mikko: I would like to give 10 to it, but I think we can still make even better album(s) in future so I give it 9.
finnbands: Usually bands are asked for their favorite song on their ablum. I want to know which song you like last and why?
Mikko: At the moment it's "Dancing in the Air". Its very dynamic and great live song.
finnbands: In April you are going to Russia for two gigs, what do you expect there?
Mikko: Those crazy Russian people of course! This time we have possibility to play also in St. Petersburg and its great thing.
finnbands: Reflexion is a band that plays gigs pretty rarely ... will that change in 2008? Actually there are "some" people that would like to see you more often.
Mikko: Hopefully. You know, it's not up to us to do more gigs. We have never declined to do any gigs which have been offered to us.
finnbands: What else can we exept from Reflexion in the near future?
Mikko: In the near future, nothing will radically change in Reflexion camp. Couple of gigs etc. We already have new songs ready and we'll work with them whenever we have time.
