Interview with Naughty Whisper

Naughty Whisper hailing from Italy have been around for a while now. This interview was planed to be done during their tour in Finland in February 2009 already but due to schedule problems it was just a little delayed. Nevertheless, here we go:


TrashAndRiot: Please introduce Naughty Whisper for the readers of Trash And Riot.
Naughty Whisper: We are just a fuking rock band!
Take a bit of Motley Crue, add a little bit of 69 Eyes and Poisonblack and you could have an idea of what Naughty Whisper are.We use to call our new sound "Obscure Rock" but the best thing is to listen to our music and enjoy it.

TrashAndRiot: You have been touring Finland the second time now and played a few gigs over there.
When you compare both tours, what have been your experiences from your first tour and was there any difference in the second one?
Naughty Whisper: You never forget your first Finland tour!!
It's always a pleasure to play in Scandinavia cause there's lot of people that love rock etc. This time we have played in Tampere, such a fucking rock city!

TrashAndRiot: Have you been touring in other countries besides Italy, Finland and Estonia so far? Are there plans for other countries yet?
Naughty Whisper: Croatia, England, Sweden, and it was great too....We are planning few good things for the next months…so stay tuned!

TrashAndRiot: What are the easiest and hardest things on tour?
Naughty Whisper: The hardest thing is to find a good food. The easiest.....to have fun!

TrashAndRiot: As you told me, you are not drinking before gigs. How do you spend your time before going on stage / how do you keep yourselves busy in the hours of waiting?
Naughty Whisper: I think we spend "all the time before" in a dressing room....to make up ourselves !!!

TrashAndRiot: Could you imagine to play a gig in front of a seated audience? What would be the main difference compared to a usual rock audience standing in front of stage?
Naughty Whisper: I think it's very very boring to have a seated audience...but I can't imagine something like that...we play rock luckly, and I hope never to see people like that....or I will change my music in classic.....

TrashAndRiot: "Music has no age limit!"
When you are combining this statement with concerts in Finland where there are gigs for all ages, gigs esp for under aged people and k18 shows, what do you think about these gigs for different age categories?
And what is your opinion about this statement in general?
Naughty Whisper: It's weird cause there's no age limits here in Italy. The first time we heard about that we asked if we could say "fuck".
Anyway it's a good thing to play for young people. Kids need to be educated!

TrashAndRiot: What is the situation in Italy? (In Germany there is no age limit for concerts at all, just that you need adult company when you are under 16.)
Naughty Whisper: As I told you there's no age limit in Italy. But the most of under 16/18 are all emo…

TrashAndRiot: We were recently doing an interview with an Italian Visual Kei band and in Visual Kei scene the looks are as important as the music. How important are looks for you?
Naughty Whisper: Ya!... I think the look is a big slice of our pie....and as I told u before, we use to make up....but, the most important differences between bands is music... anybody has one's own way to express themselves ...and today you can find a lot of bands with a cool look but about music...I've nothing to say!

TrashAndRiot: "Music business is not about being nice!" - What do you think about this statement?
Naughty Whisper: Music is our business...and business is good.

TrashAndRiot: Some personal questions:
What is the nicest thing about Andy?
Lexxy: we call him Frizzantino cause he's pop denz-fizzy and he loves cars…
Ashly: I really like Andy cuz he's a fizzy person.
Redox: Andy is an eternal child, is a party maker and always full of life! Even if he is the oldest guy of the band…

TrashAndRiot: What is the most embarrassing thing about Ashly?
Lexxy: omg…I don't know…
Redox: mmm… cannot thing about anything bad of him… He is always polite, reserved and quiet but with a big attitude… Well, if I must say something, it's about his job... especially about what he sells… hehe…
Andy: .....I don't talk about him without my lawyer!!!!!!!

TrashAndRiot: What is Lexxy's worst bad habit?
Ashly: mmmm...I think when he put his hand in our dishes....I think he likes to touch our food and I dunno why!
Redox: I bet Lexxy knows what I'm gonna say… I HATE him when he sticks his fingers in my food!!! But it seems he cannot live without doing that…
Andy: I don't think the world is ready to know this thing!!!!

TrashAndRiot: What is Redox spending most time with?
Lexxy: work apart... drinking and Scoppare
Ashly: I think at work....he's something like manager.
Andy: making cigarettes

TrashAndRiot: What is the funniest thing about Lexxy?
Ashly: I like when he finds funny nick -name of anyone....I can remember when he stated to call a friend of us "Krusty the clown" cus this guy's got some problem with his hair!
Redox: His 'evil' sense of humour... and I like the way he gives nicknames to everyone/everything!!!
Andy: the funniest thing about him??It's that he's Lexxy

TrashAndRiot: What is most bothering about Andy?
Lexxy: he always go on stage without take care of instruments and musicians ahaha...he's soo dangerous.
Redox: When he drinks, he starts to move his hands and arms all around like an obsessed , pushing and hitting everything on his way… that's why I call him 'dea Kalì' when he is drunk.
Ashly: I don't like when I try to tell him important stuff....and he usually listen to me but it seems he doesn't…

TrashAndRiot: What is the most romantic attitude of Redox?
Ashly: I dunno
Lexxy: we are all romantic…we are Italians!
Andy: I'm not his girlfriend!!!! Thanks to God ihihihihih

TrashAndRiot: What is the most valuable thing about Ashly?
Lexxy: His eternal youth.
Redox: he is a great musician/composer/arranger, I really envy his musical ear and his total natural way to play music. He can also play a lot of instruments.
Andy: He has A LOT of patience expecially with me

TrashAndRiot: Who of you is the one loosing / forgetting anything mostly?
Lexxy: Ashly! but Andy is on the right way...
Redox: as I remember, all of us forgot something around at least one time, but the worst of us is Ashly…once he forgot to pick up his bass after a gig even if he was sober... I had to go and collect it the day after!!!
Ashly: ahahahah...if I can answer ...I'm sure it's me.....some years ago we were in a club for a gig and after the show I came back home but I forgot my bass there!
Andy: without doubt it's me!!!

TrashAndRiot: And who of you is taking care of the others mostly?
Lexxy: in the early days Redox…but now we have to take care of him!
Ashly: I'm not sure of that again ....I will tell u in few years.
Redox: if others don't say 'REDOX!' I'll quit the band!!!
Andy: Ashly X

TrashAndRiot: If there is something like reincarnation and you will be an animal in your next life, which animal would you be?
Lexxy: scimmia urlatrice (impossible to translate)
Ashly: I really hope in a cat....maybe in a white persian with green eyes and in a milionair s' house
Redox: no doubt, I wanna be a pig!!! Why? Get info about his long lasting orgasm…
Andy: I AM a dog just right now

TrashAndRiot: There are some rock'n'roll movies like "Almost Famous", "Rockstar", "Still Crazy". Do you watch these kind of movies and which is your favourite one and why?
Andy/Lexxy: the first part of Rockstar is the best.
Ashly: I like a movie called "The rocker"....it's about a naked drummer...
Redox: I only watched 'Rockstar' (shame on me) so I can talk about that only. I can say that I dreamt watching it... but the end of the movie... It's unbelievable that a guy become a rockstar and ends playing acoustic gigs in unknown places... at least not for me!

TrashAndRiot: Talking about these movies: what is the difference between "groupies" and "band aids"?
Naughty Whisper: Both aid the bands

TrashAndRiot: How would you define the word "groupie"? And what do think about this phenomenon?
Naughty Whisper: This phenomenon aid the bands to substain the typical hard life on tour...!

TrashAndRiot: Imagine you are invisible one day of your life, what would you do?
Ashly: I would go to kick some ass!
Redox: wtf, too many things!!! Well, after staying in women dressing rooms and stuff like that. I'd like to go inside 'Area 51' and see what actually happens there…
Andy: I would go to visit all the people who don't believe in ghosts to make them a lot of jokes...hihi!!!
Lexxy: a perfect murder!

TrashAndRiot: How important are CD booklets for you - as band and as normal guy buying a CD?
Naughty Whisper: I always liked packages/booklet etc. And now that it's soo hard to sell cd's I think Is highly important to do a nice booklet. Something like "Thank you for buying the 'real'cd, and not the virtual one of Itunes etc …"

TrashAndRiot: Which was the last CD you bought / got as present / what ever? And why do you like it or not?
Ashly: I think it's "Saints of Los Angeles" and actually i can't say "I don't like it" but it's not one of my favourite album of Motley!
Lexxy: uhm…maybe a dark/goth compilation... I'm the dark side of the band.
Redox: The last one was Dreaming in a Casket from HCSS, I already knew some songs that I like from that album, but I still have to listen to all the rest better ... btw, by the first listening I wasn't that enthusiastic… maybe tomorrow I go and buy their new one!
Andy: the last album of Enter Shikari, I like it because it has a fucking new sound

TrashAndRiot: Even rockstars have idols in rock scene. Who are your idols?
Ashly: Nikki Sixx, Billy Idol, Michael Monroe....
Lexxy: Tommy Lee
Redox: one above all is Angus Young, thanx to him I started playing guitar… I'd love to meet him some day and thank him personally.
Andy: Sebastian Bach
