Interview with Tapani of The Knob

finnbands: How would you describe your band and the music you are playing? Lots of people in Germany might not know you, so please introduce you.
Tapani:Hmm...Well The Knob plays melodic punk rock. Maybe the easiest way to describe the band is to compare it to some other bands. Here is a list of the bands we DONT sound like....Cannibal Corpse, Testament, Manowar, Stratovarius, Sibelius, The polyphonic spree...well naah...too hard...lets just do it other way. The Knob plays Melodic punk rock, the comparisons...hmm...well it sounds a bit like a mix of bands like Green Day, Pulley, Millencolin, Offspring, Rise against and Madonna...well not madonna...but you get the point. Listen the music and make your own decisions about it ;)

finnbands: Why do you think the world should listen to your songs?
Tapani: Because the world should wake up and smell the coffee!!!!
There is too much of bad things in the world, The Knob is one of the good guys, and the good guys always finish last...what?

finnbands: Please describe every bandmember (including yourself) in one or two sentences.
Tapani:Tuomo - Fuzzy but funny homeboy with attitude of carebear.
Jonne - Red and smelly (after the show) with the attitude of Bumblebee (yeah...bumblebee, that is a nice word...just wanted to put it somewhere)
Tapani - Hairy and balding with nerves of cow.
Jami - "the bass player" ...i think that sums it all up...

finnbands: Is there any festival you would like to play?
Tapani: Well every festival of course! but the main dream would be Warped tour!

finnbands: About roles in the band: Who does the song writing?
Tapani: Usually Tuomo or me have an idea and we bring it to rehearsals and start to work with the song. Then everyone brings up their own spices to the song. About the lyrics, it is usually me (tapani) who has "the burden" of making them. But it is usually week before the studio when i start to make them, and i make them under a huge pressure :D i like that :D ...not :D well actually i do ....

finnbands: Is there something like a boss in the band? Someone who makes the decisions? Or are you democratic?
Tapani: Well we try to be, but no band is never democratic. But the decisions are made together and every idea and opinion gets a "shout" sometimes just some ideas are meant to be "thrown away" But 95% democratic ;)

finnbands: Internet stuff: What do you think about the internet in general and how much time do you spend in front of your computer an average day?
Tapani: Well too much! Computer is my life now! i just got the internet connection at home and i just sit here all day and write emails and visit websites etc...It is 24/7 with the computer ;D and sometimes i go to play a show or rehearsals...and maybe a little work :D

finnbands: What does your future plans look like? Concerning The Knob (and personal)?
Tapani: Future plans are to continue with the music. Hopefully someday to make a living by doing the stuff you love to do! which is MUSIC! i dont have to be a millionare...just enough to make a living out of it.

finnbands: And now the interesting part:
Why wasn't there any whipped cream when you met Jami at his home? What did you do instead?
Tapani: Well actually there was whipp...NO....i mean....we sat down and i showed some of my tunes to Jami, some songs i have been working out. Most of them were pretty much Scheisse (is that correct) but those were the days when we were starting :D one of the songs was actually INSOMNIA which was included in our first demo. Then after showing the tunes we took the whipped cream and started to spank eachothers with frozen tunafishes and then the zebras and koalas came...ohhh...suits you sir...wait a minute...i didnt mean to tell you that...where is the delete...naahh..nevermind...i hope you delete this part...will you :D

finnbands: Would "Tapani`s, Tuomo`s, Jami`s and Jonne`s Punk Rock Experience" not be a better alternative to "Lowercase"? By the way, why "The Knob"?
Tapani: Yeah, and beginning of every show someone announces "here is the tuomo tapani
jonne whatever punk naah screwit" or "here is some local shitty experience
something neverheards" So THE KNOB is nice and simple...although usually we see
posters with our names...there is lots of misspellings...FOR CHRISTS SAKE IT IS
SO SIMPLE! why do people still write The KLOB or Nlobs, or something like that....

The Knob is easy (yeah right) and simple (as we have noticed...greetings to that
one guy who wrote Thy Slobs) and it is also someway dirty name :D a prefect for
a punk band.

finnbands: How many people are you able to call in 2 seconds?
Tapani: After my years in special forces, if i have a dead squarrel and a bunch of fresh
mints, i could be able to make a weapon out of those and probably kill 17 people
in 2 secon...wait aminute...you said CALL!!! yeah...forget what i said earlier.
My phone is F`d up! so it takes me 2 minutes to call even one person...pretty
safe if an accident comes...

*Crash and accident* wait..i call for help

*after 45 minutes of me trying to push the broken buttons in my telephone
someone answers*

"The hospital, what is the problem?"

Me --> "there was an accident but forget it, the vultures already came and the
corpse is starting to decompose, better luck next time"

finnbands: What did you feel while recognizing your own music in that show?
Tapani: In what show? it was Lordi who won the eurovision, we just look a bit the same...

finnbands: Do you think Lapua is worth visiting?
Tapani: Well there is someone from lapua sitting behind me..so maybe i have to say...NO comments.....no comments...really....no comments...i mean NO comments...if you can read between the lines i said NO and i mean NO NO NO NO NO comments... sesarhp eht ni neddih si rewsna eht <<<----- so NO comments...for your question is Lapua worth visiting...i would say...NO, comments.

finnbands: Tell us the story about the Kangaroo and the Waterproof Lubricant!
Tapani: well i think you dont have the 18+ disclaimer in your page so i have to *Bleep*
the dirty parts, but here goes.

One day we saw a Kangaroo, well of course Jonne said, "i would really like to
*Bleep*" that Kangaroo. Tuomo instantly took the waterproof lubricant and
started to rub his *Bleep* with it. Jami said..."wait a minute, i have a bass
guitar stuck in my *Bleep* so i have to take it off before you can *Bleep* it"

The kangaroo was scared, and of course you would also be if 4 guys would be
*Bleep* you and trying to *Bleep* you too hard. Luckily we had the lubricant.
Unfortunately the kangaroo was scared of the huge sizes of our *Bleep* and ran
away, but we had a lots of great time *Bleep* the kangaroo and *Bleep* ourselves.

Tapani: We come to germany AS SOON AS WE GET A SHOW THERE! so please help us to get a show in germany, or few shows and we come there in a heartbeat!

finnbands: Who told you about finnbands.com?
Tapani: This is a hard one...i think it was sunday afternoon when i was walking in the
street, and this cute looking little PINK man came to me and said, "Heya there!
i am faggot and i can dance can can." I didnt notice him and continued the trip,
then soon after that a little GREEN man came to me and said, "heya there i am
faggot and i can dance can can" it was bit annoying but i just continued the
road, soon after that a BLUE little man came to me, and BEFORE HE OPENED HIS
MOUTH i shouted to him that "YEAH I KNOW YOU ARE FAGGOT AND GAY AND EVERYTHING,
and i also know that you CAN dance CAN CAN, so get the FUCK OFF MY WAY"

after i said that, he replied to me

"I am From Police, Please show me your identification and lets go to the station"

Where was i...yeah...after a good night sleep in Jail, being lubricated by the
police officers. I just went to a internet and saw a add in myspace.
