Revengine - II

The three Finns of Revengine have been playing together since about two years. Now they are presenting their second promo CD "II".
Their homepage announces "31 flavours instead of one…" and promises diversified rock music. Do they keep what they promise and can a four song promo prove this?

It begins with "F(r)iend". A soft rock number which could persuade friends of softer tunes but that's it. With "Disco BS" it gets more rocking and abrasive. Hard rock with a touch of grunge and little nu metal influences give the song it's own character and makes you fancy for more. But this desire won't be satisfied. "The Wait" shows some grunge elements as well but all in all it's very soft and the listener is waiting for the next song. In the beginning this wait was worth it. "Yet here we are" starts promising but the special kick is again missing in the song.

On their second promo Revengine appear a little discouraged and a personal aspect is missing. Different musical facets are shown in some of the passages but the listener doesn't get rid of the feeling that there are more possibilities.
